Mobilize with MomsRising for National Juvenile Justice Month!

Mobilize with MomsRising for National Juvenile Justice Month!: Every year the “school-to-prison pipeline,” a disturbing national trend where children are funneled out of public schools and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems, continues to deny too many kids the opportunity to grow, learn, make mistakes, and still reach their full potential.

The Global Week of Action: A Call from Indigenous Peoples - Amazon Watch

The Global Week of Action: A Call from Indigenous Peoples - Amazon Watch: The Amazon has already lost 17 percent of its forest cover and an additional 17 percent of its rainforests have been degraded. If deforestation increases and surpasses the 20-25 percent threshold, this vital ecosystem will reach an irreversible tipping point of ecological collapse. The Amazon rainforest, as we've known it, could dive into the process of 'savannafication.' In response to this emergency in the Amazon and a call from Indigenous peoples to show solidarity, Amazon Watch hosted a Global Week of Action for the Amazon from September 5-11, in collaboration with the Coordinating Body of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin, the Global Amazon Assembly, the Pan-Amazon Social Forum, and many more coalition members from around the world.

No More Excuses: Activists Rally to Urge President Biden to Take Action on Voting Rights! - People For the American Way

No More Excuses: Activists Rally to Urge President Biden to Take Action on Voting Rights! - People For the American Way: No more excuses, Mr. President. Across the country, voting rights are being quietly stripped away at the state level by far-right lawmakers. Still, President Biden has yet to use the full power of his office to lead on protecting voting rights. We need him to use his bully pulpit to urge the Senate to end […]

President Biden, the freedom to vote needs your continued support

President Biden, the freedom to vote needs your continued support: The freedom to vote is being challenged in 48 states and in the U.S. Supreme Court. We need to call on President Biden to continue his strong leadership in protecting this sacred and fundamental right by urging Congress to pass pro-democracy reforms.

A Somber Anniversary - People For the American Way

A Somber Anniversary - People For the American Way: While we truly believe the hearts and minds of an entire nation were opened by George Floyd’s death and the evidence of brutal killings of Black Americans, there is still so much work to do. Congress needs to pass a robust justice in policing act to honor George Floyd. This should be a day of […]

Call on the Biden-Harris Administration to Take Urgent Action for the Amazon! - Amazon Watch

Call on the Biden-Harris Administration to Take Urgent Action for the Amazon! - Amazon Watch: Every day soybeans, meat, minerals, and other commodities from deforested lands in the Brazilian Amazon are shipped to the United States. Last year, deforestation there reached a 12-year high, driven by criminal arson and encouraged by government policy. If Biden wants to advance ambitious climate action policies that protect the Amazon rainforest, his administration must include Indigenous and forest peoples as key decision-makers.

Tell Your Legislator to Make Climate a Priority the Legislative Session

Tell Your Legislator to Make Climate a Priority the Legislative Session: With the end of the 2021 Minnesota Legislative session less than six weeks away, our lawmakers are considering a number of different proposals that would have an impact on our environment and our climate. We are encouraging you to contact your legislator about two of these proposals in particular. *Encourage your legislator to oppose efforts to revoke the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's authority to regulate auto emissions. If passed, this would stop Clean Cars MN which the governor has championed and limit further attempts to limit pollution from the transportation sector. *Support efforts to transition MN to 100% Clean Electricity by 2040. We know that together we can transition to a clean energy economy and this proposal would help our state do that.

Tell Congress to Build Back Better!

Tell Congress to Build Back Better!: As our economy begins to recover, just getting back to normal isn’t good enough – it’s time to Build Back Better. The ambitious infrastructure package proposed by President Biden will help us secure a clean energy future and tackle climate change, while creating good-paying jobs and investing in communities that need it the most. Now, Congress must deliver. The climate crisis and the frontline communities that have been facing the disproportionate impacts of pollution and climate change can wait no longer. We have the perfect opportunity to make a difference: Help us push Congress to invest in clean energy and create millions of good quality, high-paying jobs that modernize our energy, transportation and water infrastructure and invest in people and communities who too often have been left behind.

Support a Clean Energy Future

Support a Clean Energy Future: The Minnesota House and Minnesota Senate have introduced bills (HF278 (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/bill.php?f=HF278&y=2021&ssn=0&b=house)/SF643 (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/bill.php?f=SF643&y=2021&ssn=0&b=senate)) that would transition our state to 100% clean electricity by 2040. As our state works to address the climate crisis and create a more sustainable future, this effort is one important step in the right direction. Unfortunately, some of our state legislatures have not yet indicated their support for this legislation. If we are going to create a cleaner energy future, we need our state leaders to not only vote for this legislation but also use their platform to speak out in favor of a clean energy future. Use the tool below to send a message to your state senator and state representative encouraging them to support a clean energy future. We encourage you to edit the message and subject line to make the message your own. Having a unique and heartfelt message makes the communication more impactful.

Thank you for urging the House to pass the COUP Act!

Thank you for urging the House to pass the COUP Act!: The more we learn about exactly what happened on January 6, the clearer it becomes that this was a coordinated effort by white supremacists to try to take over the U.S. government by force – and we need to know who was involved, how they were involved, and the true breadth of their seditious reach within the ranks of the Capitol Police.
