Dear Access Living friends and allies,
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on the tax plan sometime today. The vote was delayed from last night in order to give Republican leadership more time to add more stuff into the bill. Very few people will have any real understanding of the final product as it goes to the Senate floor as it is being rammed through fast. It is extremely important to try to make phone calls to Senators THIS MORNING before 10 am Central. Here is phone info to key Senators, and also you can still email your U.S. Senators at this link.
Key US Senators (yes, you can call them even from out of state):
Senator Jeff Flake- Arizona (202) 224-4521
Senator Bob Corker- Tennessee (202) 224-3344
Senator Ron Johnson- Wisconsin (202) 224-5323
Senator Steve Daines- Montana (202) 224-2651
Senator Susan Collins- Maine (202) 224-2523
US Senators from Illinois:
Senator Tammy Duckworth (202) 224-2854
Senator Richard Durbin (202) 224-2152
Message: "Hello, I am calling to ask you to say no to the tax plan because it will take away healthcare and employment opportunities from people with disabilities. This is a matter of national importance." If you are asked for your state, go ahead and tell them, but remind them that this is a matter of NATIONAL importance.
Keep your eye on the news today to see what happens! If the Senate passes the bill, that is not the final product. The House and the Senate would have to decide what to send to the White House.
